The Trondheim Society organised a national all breed dogshow. From Ireland came over Michael Forte and Anne Ingram. From South Africa Martin Croeser and Jackie Jackson. From Sweden Bo Skalin, from Norway Jul Hamlot and Arne Foss. Martin van de Wijer and myself officiated from the Netherlands.
Brit Unni Bolgnes, the secretary of the show welcomed us at Trondheim airport. Also our Irish collegues flown in from Schiphol Amsterdam. The Trondheim Hundfestival is organised at a out side skate center. But there is also in big indoor skate center near the show ground.
On Saturday I had a strong entry in Bearded Collies and the quality was very high. The dogs entered, most of them were good for size had nice heads with good muzzle and skulls. Nice expressions some could show a bit more daylight. The coat’s tends to be a bit overdone. Some happy tail carriage but overall very nice fluent movements with enough reach and drive. My best dog and later on best of breed shown for the first time, I heard later: La-Faja’s Trick or Treat and best opposite sex was T-bob’s Britney the Norwegian Way.
I also judged Welsh Corgi Pembroke, Alaskan Malamute, Japanese Spitz, Keeshond, Shiba breeds not strong in number but my best of breeds were nice representatives. I was very pleased with a nice entry of Norwegian Lundehunds were my best of breed was Int. Nord. Ch. Ålvisheim’s Drott nice for size, bone and substance, very good head profile and was shown to perfection. It is very difficult breed to judge, but when you have an outstanding specimen in the country of origin, you are very pleased.
My second strongest entry of the day were all the Schnauzers and I really was impressed with some of the Giants Schnauzers. My best of breed was the lovely bitch N. Ch. I Am Absolutely Fit For Fight, so very typical in outline, superhead with nice parallel lines. Nice dark and well shaped eye. Typical expression, very short in body, and really could move and the handler could really get everything out of the dog. Later that day she won group II.
They invited me to do best puppy in show and I ended up with a very sound and typical well presented Lagotto Romagnolo. And a very typical good for size, Norwegian Elkhound Bitch was reserve.
The Trondheim committee really took good care of us. And on a Sunday evening we had dinner in the big Trondheim tower, were we had a magnificent view over Trondheim and the Fjords.
